Sunrise, FL — On September 28, Dr. Rosanne M. Kho participated in a live demonstration and a review of tissue extraction for the Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) Surgery U. As a leader in Gynecological surgical supplies, Marina Medical supports the work of Dr. Kho to achieve safe tissue extraction through minimally invasive gynecology. “It is an exciting time to see so much progress in the area of gynecological surgery where patients and surgeons can both benefit from these less invasive procedures,” said Alexander Barron, CEO of Marina Medical. “We look forward to working with Dr. Kho to design specific instrumentation that continues to move this progress further.”
Sunday’s demonstration was broadcast online from the NYU Langone Medical Center with a live audience of 75 invited guests. This live presentation reviewed the latest findings and allow for open discussion regarding the misuse, overuse and underuse of methods to extract tissue safely.
Dr. Kho of Columbia University Medical Center along with Dr. Karen Wang of Harvard Medical School will be presenting “Tips and Tricks for Safe Tissue Extraction Vaginally and via Mini-laparotomy”.
Kho was joined by her colleagues from NYU School of Medicine, Kathy Huang, Chair, Genevieve Bennett, John Curtin and Karen C. Wang of Harvard Medical School. The agenda included presentations by the faculty along with panel discussions. Demonstrations included vaginal, mini-laparotomy, laproscopic and contained laproscopic morcellation. Observers in the live audience and physicians worldwide were able to ask questions during the panel discussions.
This event was presented by AAGL/Surgery U in conjunction with NYU Langone Medical Center, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists established Surgery U as a platform to facilitate education and an exchange of information between professionals involved with Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. Hundreds of presentations, live broadcasts, videos and other digital materials are made available for free to OBGYN residents in the US and it provides opportunity for global collaboration.
AAGL, the world’s premiere professional society dedicated to minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in gynecology among surgeons worldwide. When established in 1971 by Jordan M. Phillips, M.D., AAGL was known as the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. As the field of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery grew, the membership of the AAGL quickly expanded around the globe and came to encompass more than laparoscopy alone.
